faq
  • What does acupunture treat?
Acupuncture is amazing at treating any type of pain condition and is excellent at treating a wide range of internal conditions. Acupuncture is also helpful for anxiety, allergies, fertility, autoimmune/endocrine problems, GI problems and many more conditions. We also offer cancer supportive care. If you are unsure if we can help, give us a call.
  • Does Acupuncture hurt?
No. Acupuncture utilizes needles the size of a dog or cat’s whisker and it is very comfortable. Many patients take a nap during their treatment and leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.
  • How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments you will need will vary from person to person based on your specific condition, the amount of time you have had it, etc. For complex, long standing conditions, 1-2 treatments per week for several months may be recommended. Typically for acute problems, fewer visits are required. For health maintenance, we recommend monthly tune-ups.
  • What to expect?
Acupuncture is quick and painless. You will be at the office 45 minutes to 1 hour. You will have an initial consultation with Dr. Lisa to see if you are a candidate for acupuncture. If you are determined to be a candidate for acupuncture, treatment can begin that day. Once you have had your evaluation, you will be given an estimate of the number of treatments likely needed based on evidence-based data. Dr. Lisa will conduct your acupuncture treatment, and you will be left to relax for about 30 minutes on the table. You will have follow ups 1-2 times per week based upon your treatment plan.
  • Is acupuncture safe while I am pregnant?
Yes! Regular acupuncture is recommended throughout your pregnancy. It can help combat morning sickness, nausea, headaches, sciatica pain and more.
  • Do you take insurance?
We are in network with Independence and BCBS. We do accept some other policies if you have out of network acupuncture benefits. Please contact us and we will happily verify your coverage. If you have a HSA or FSA account you can use that for your acupuncture visits.
